Soapbox Racers Project by Alan Powdrill

Alan Powdrill is a talented photographer and filmmaker currently based in London, UK. Alan was lucky enough this summer to photograph the daredevil competitors from the Redbull Soapbox Race and their homemade gravity powered machines. In a nutshell they’re thrown down a very steep hill doing their best to navigate a course and stay in one piece at the same time. They reach some serious speeds matched by some serious spills, creating a go-cart graveyard at the bottom.

As you can see, some very creative imagination went into the machines and team outfits. It was hard to keep the adrenaline (or caffeine ?) under control when snapping them but getting them to pose was no bother as they were very eager to show off their creations.
