Alicia Vera is a photographer based in Mexico City. Upon moving to San Francisco, CA and studying at the Academy of Art University, Alicia took a keen interest in women’s issues and began to document the complex lives of sex workers. Eventually she moved to Mexico City to freelance full time and rediscover her families’ roots. Her past clients include Al Jazeera America, The Wall Street Journal, Condé Nast Traveler, Airbnb, Delta Sky Magazine, among others. She is an Eddie Adams XXIII alumni and has most recently won the Getty Emerging Talent Award, First Place for Membrana Magazine’s National Photo Contest, and was shortlisted for Burn Magazine’s Emerging Photography Fund 2013.
