Josef Hoflehner is a talented Austrian photographer, who was born in Wels in 1955, when the country was still under allied occupation. Josef grew up in a family where the camera was used so rarely that as many as three Christmas holidays would be captured on one roll of film. His hauntingly beautiful images raise his earthly subject matter to an almost mythical level, defining the essence of the place. At the age of 20 Hoflehner purchased a camera and began to travel. Hoflehner has worked in some of the most remote and forbidding areas of the world; including Antarctica, Vietnam, China, Japan, the Yemen, Iceland, and most recently, the Deep South of the United States. His work is included in many private and public collections including Fidelity Investments, AT&T, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Dubai International Financial Centre.
