Brandy Trigueros is a native Angeleno whose photographs have been exhibited nationally. Her work introduces worlds in which genders can assume each other’s best traits, where one can slide down a rabbit hole into other realities and only the best parts of childhood can be retained.
Her mother was a self-taught sculptor who ran a home business creating elaborate memory boxes for clients, however, her love of children eventually prompted her to become a teacher’s aid. Brandy’s father worked in fire prevention—on the back of his pick-up truck, using his Polaroid camera—Brandy took her first photos. Later, in high school, learning to use an analog camera the spark of someday becoming a photographer got ignited.
Following high school, Brandy was awarded a scholarship to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. She then studied graphic design at Santa Monica College and illustration and photography at Art Center College of Design. She also honed her photographic skills by participating in the Julia Dean Certificate Program and Santa Fe Photographic Workshops. Brandy worked in magazine publishing and continued in animation for Nickelodeon and OddBot.
In 2010, after experiencing the death of both her parents within four years, Brandy felt compelled to honor her life’s vision—she made the decision to pursue photography full-time. She now lives and works in Los Angeles with her cartoonist husband, Eddie, and their Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Baron.
