The Comedy Wildlife Photo Awards 2016 are in full swing – with hundreds of the most funny and offbeat animal photographs being sent in from around the world.
Last year’s competition featured 1,502 entries from 52 different countries, with highlights including a laughing seal, a tumbling leopard and a gorilla picking its nose. The search is on for technically excellent photographs of wildlife doing amusing things, or looking funny, alongside humorous expressions.
The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards, ingeniously titled to avoid any confusion, was the result of two factors: Firstly, a need for a photography competition that was light hearted, upbeat, possibly unpretentious and mainly about wildlife doing funny things. After its first year, these objectives seem to have been met. Secondly, and way more importantly, this competition is about conservation.
The deadline for entries is October 1, 2016, and the overall winner will receive a stunning photographic safari holiday consisting of seven nights in Kenya’s Masai Mara.
