The Smithsonian Photo Contest 2017 has announced the finalists of its 15th edition. This year they received more than 48,000 submissions from photographers in 155 countries and territories across six categories: Natural World, The American Experience, Travel, People, Altered Images, and Mobile. The Sony World Photography Awards 2018 Shortlist Revealed

The Sony World Photography Awards recently announced the shortlisted stunning winners from across all categories for its 2018 competition. The competition received a record number of entries this year, with photographers from over 200 countries and territories entering nearly 320,000 images, a 40 per cent increase on 2017. The awards cover four separate competitions – Professional, Open, Youth and Student Focus – which are themselves categorised into areas such as Architecture, Contemporary Issues, Landscape, Portraiture, and Travel. Knitted Camouflage: Creative Photography by Joseph Ford

Knitted Camouflage is a unique art project created by collaboration between London-based photographer Joseph Ford, street artist Monsieur Chat, and knitter Nina Dodd. They worked to create custom hand-knitted sweaters to blend models into urban backgrounds. All the clothes are real. The sweaters replicate the background patterns so they almost disappear, which reminds me of the work of Chinese performance artist Liu Bolin.
