David Balhuizen was born in Amsterdam and received his BA in photography at the Royal College of Art in The Hague. After working with the best in Dutch advertising he decided to move to London. With his recent success in Londons most prestigious AOP-Awards/2009 he has put his latest personal projects to the forefront.

The two stories shot in Tokyo and the Bronx show his intuitive style that mixes his strong sense of composition with the beautiful colour palette that makes his work stand out. Just recently he has added an ongoing series of portraits to his book, young people shot in an honest and open fashion.

His photography has a unique style of observation, which enables him to turn everyday situations into graphically compelling compositions. He is constantly developing new directions and has shown us wonderfully strong and suggestive still lifes on location. His more recent images that introduce models and actors result in seemingly observed but beautifully composed portraits. In a much more stylised way the subject of men and his surrounding is visualized with a sensitive approach for colour and composition.
