Glamour Photography by Jessica Craig-Martin

Jessica Craig-Martin is a talented photographer, who was born in 1963 in Hanover, NH and currently based in New York. She shoots a lot of fashion, glamour, lifestyle and advertising photography. Her crops and edits capture moments and items that others may miss. Using high exposure and elevated contrast, Craig-Martin’s close-ups represent the vanity, excess, and arcane social rituals of our culture, while simultaneously providing commentary on the vulnerability of her subjects and what she describes as their “failed armor.” Her work evokes the excess and abjection of Nan Goldin‘s photographs, styling the upper classes as absurd purveyors of artifice.

Her solo museum and gallery exhibitions include Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid; PS1/MoMA; Galleria Maze, Turin; Colette, Paris; White Columns, NY; and Interim Art, London. Her work is included in such collections as the New Museum, New York, the Saatchi Collection, London, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York.
