Jessica Ledwich is a Melbourne based visual artist whose work explores the more contentious topics of conversation. Mortality, anthropology, technology and contemporary ideals are themes that regularly feature in her work. Her work seeks to hold a mirror to human behaviour, creating a powerful psychological viewing space. “I am interested in creating immersive viewing experiences that motivate audiences to participate with my work.”

She initially studied a Bachelor of Performing Arts at Monash University, Melbourne, but found her true calling in photography and visual art. Before developing her arts practice, Ledwich worked in the commercial arena photographing fashion for local clients, magazines and publications. In 2011 the Australian Centre of Media Photographers selected her as 1 of 5 emerging artists in Australia for her provoking and visually seductive work, and as a feature artist in the U.S Publication Visual Overture. Her work is held in private collections both in Australia, London and The United States. In 2013 her exhibition The Promise was selected as part of the Castlemaine State Festival Visual Arts Biennial and was named as one of the top 5 picks to see by Time Out Melbourne. Her series Monstrous Feminine has recently gone global, receiving press coverage in the US, UK, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Russia, Australia and New Zealand. She has recently completed a residency at Cherrycake Studios in Penang, Malaysia and is currently undertaking a Master of Fine Art at RMIT University.
