Kathleen Hayes was born in 1974 in Long Island, New York. She received her BFA from School of Visual Arts in 1997, where she majored in Photography. Kathleen draws inspiration from her suburban roots, Halloween, her love of the sea, surf and skate culture, and her relationships within the gay community. One part beach bunny, one part night owl, and lover of all things kitsch and the macabre. Kathleen’s work has been exhibited in group shows throughout the United States, and abroad in Australia and the UK. Kathleen won the title of Best Mermaid in the 2012 Coney Island Mermaid Parade, painted as a Mexican, Dia De Los Muertos mermaid.
