Marc McAndrews grew up in Reading. Pa. and has always had a wandering streak. Given his first camera, a Polaroid 600, by his grandmother when he was 5 years old. he used it to pass the time during his family’s long summer vacation drives. His love oi photography and road trips joined forces when he started buying conversion vans (1994 Chevy G20 is his favorite) on Ebay and using them to traverse the country photographing the American interior. It was in the course of these travels that Marc began his critically acclaimed book project. “Nevada Rose: Inside the American Brothels” which captures the personalities and places of Nevada’s legal brothels.

Marc’s work has been seen is in magazines such as Time. Stern, lnc., Exit, Fortune Small Business and many others. Exhibited intemationally. Marc was one oi the recipients of the Magenta Arts Foundation’s 2006 “Flash Forward” award. Marc’s book “Nevada Rose‘ was nominated for the 2009 NY Photo Awards. was an ofliciai selection for the 2009 International Photo Awards. received an Honorable Mention at the 2011 International Photo Awards and earned him an invite to the 2012 Santa Fe Review. His series “JROTC’ was an official selection for the 2009 Lucie Awards. Marc has lectured at the School of Visual Arts. The New School. Sarah Lawrence College. Cooper Union, New York’s International Center oi Photography, Rutgers University, St Mark’s Book Store. The Museum of Sex and other places.

Interviews and features of his personal work have appeared in Daylight Magazine, Interview Magazine, The Paris Review. The Rumpus, The Observer, Photo (France). D Magazine. Working Class Magazine and on the cover of Marie Claire South Africa. Nevada Rose also received a much coveted starred review from Publishers Weekly. He works everywhere. but lives in New York.
