Martin Hill was born in 1946 in London, UK where he was educated in art and design. Since 1992 through multiple forms of publishing including a book in 2007 Earth to Earth, Sculpture inspired by nature’s design, Hill’s environmental sculpture photographs have reached a wide audience internationally.

He has had solo exhibitions in Japan, Sweden and New Zealand, and has completed numerous privately commissioned sculptures and projects. The Fine Line Project, begun in 1995 in collaboration with his partner Philippa Jones and nearing completion, is a symbolic line encircling the earth connecting ephemeral sculptures made on 12 high points.
Delicate Canvas, a documentary film of his working practice was made in 2011. His latest project, Watershed, was created during The Kenneth Myer Alpine Artist’s residency he and Philippa were awarded in 2012 high in the Southern Alps of New Zealand near Wanaka where they live..
