Sacha Goldberger is a talented fashion and advertising photographer based in Paris, France, who has created a quirky photo series that perfectly expresses the timeless quality of some of our favorite superheroes and villains by re-imagining them as 16th-century Flemish portrait models. The whole project took Goldberger two years to complete with a year-and-a-half going towards preparation and the rest for retouching and creating prints. Twelve people were involved with the make-up, hair and special effects.
Many of the cosplayers wear ruffs, a ruffled neckpiece men, women, and children wore separately during the latter half of the Renaissance. Dresses are floor-length, and each piece of clothing has detail work in embroidery and patterns, along with puffier sleeves, and many layers of fabric.
