Samuel Zeller is a talented 24 years old self taught photographer, visual designer and 3D artist based in Geneva, Switzerland. His first camera was the Fujifilm X100, after that came the X-E1 and finally the X-T1. Samuel studied Graphic Design & Interactive Media Design at the CFPAA in Geneva. Before moving into photography Samuel worked in various design agencies creating retail spaces, editorial design and 3D visualisations for international brands. In his series “Botanical”, Zeller presents a modern photographic take on classical botanical illustrations produced between the 18th century and early 20th century. Inspired by botanical illustrations from the 18th century, the images taken through the glass of the greenhouses seem to look like oil paintings. Reflecting the heritage of an architectural period and the years of botanical research, Zeller’s series combines these two fascinating subjects into one.
