Steve Harries recently directed a visual piece on the mechanics and athleticism of the body. An exploration of motion showing multiple facets in the same image, featuring Olympic trampolinist Kat Driscoll, it was exclusively premiered on Nowness during the London Olympics 2012 before being screened at the Curzon cinema, Mayfair and has since been selected to feature in several film festivals around the world.
Born in Devon in 1972, Steve now lives in London. He graduated from Central Saint Martins in 1994 with a first-class honours degree in graphic design and was invited to return as a lecturer there from 1999 to 2006.
His photographs of skaters in their urban playgrounds, Reading Lines, was published in 2007 and exhibited nationwide, closely followed by Location, which travelled to the Format International Photography Festival in 2009. Awards include Best in Book, Creative Review Photography Annual 2011. Steve’s collaborators include Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith and 2011 Turner Prize-nominated artist George Shaw.
